Let’s face it; there are diets that work for some people all the time, there are also some diets that work for most people sometimes, and there are diet plans that are total hogwash! The key thing is that people diet because they want to look good. If the diet also makes you feel good, then it would be even better!
Those of us who have less positive outlook to life would argue that dieting is a process of consuming food we don’t really like; in minuscule portions; and at ungodly hours of the day! The fact is that these people are merely ill-informed about dieting. Dieting is a system. It’s not merely an eating system, but a more holistic approach to maintain a healthy body weight.
What the pessimists fail to touch upon is the fact that dieting is about moderation. The main thing that separates the successful dieter from others who fail is that she understands the concept of a balanced diet. Simply put, you should forget all you’ve learned about good food vs bad food. There’s no such thing! Food is food, period. However, there are some food that you should take more than others.
Listed below are the food categories, sorted by those you should consume least to those that you should consume more:
- Fats, oils and sweets: You should consume these the least. Especially avoid them for dinners.
- Dairy products and meat: Although high in protein, they shouldn’t be the main foundation of your meals.
- Vegetables and fruits: They are an awesome natural snack and contains virtually zero fat! Tasty and high in fibre; should be included in all your meals.
- Starchy food: An excellent source of energy and should be the main foundation of your meals.
So have you identified the secret of a successful diet plan yet? Yes; moderation! You need to understand the importance of each food group and build your diet plan around it. It may not sound like much, but think about it for a while… do our ancestors have fad diet plans back then? How did they manage to stay fit and trim? I guess now you know their secret.
